These energy bites are perfect when you feel a little bit snacky between meals in the mid-morning or afternoon. They are filled with fibre and contain approximately 3g of protein per serving. Many of these ingredients are similar to the foods I include in my lactation cookies, so they are great for breastfeeding mamas too ! The oats, flaxseed and seeds are all galactalogues which can aid in milk production. This recipe is gluten-free, dairy-free and peanut-free. I’ve included the BioBonafide Body Boost Collagen for added protein and to support joints and connective tissue. It also aids in supporting healthy hair, skin and nails.
Ingredients:
-1 cup oats
-1 tbsp ground flaxseed or flaxseed meal
-2 scoops BioBonafide Collagen powder (use code Kelsey10 for 10% off)
-3 tbsp sunflower seeds (or pumpkin seeds)
-1 tsp cinnamon
-1/4 cup sunflower butter (I used Sunbutter but you can use any seed or nut butter)
-2 tbsp honey
-1-2 tbsp coconut milk (I used a coconut & almond milk creamer)
-1/4 dried cranberries or raisins
Mix ingredients as listed in a medium sized bowl. Add more or less coconut milk depending on the texture and stickiness. Using your hands, roll mixture into 1 inch balls. Recipe yields 12-14 bites. Store in refrigerator in a sealed container.
