Homemade granola is so quick and easy to make! It is also more affordable than buying pre-packaged granola from the grocery store. Since I have a peanut allergy, I always found it difficult to find a granola that was nut-free. When I make it myself I can determine every ingredient and change the flavours depending on the season !
Here’s a simple granola recipe that you can add nuts, seeds or dried fruit to if you want more variety ! Granola adds great flavour and texture to yogurts, smoothie bowls or on top of your oatmeal for an extra crunch ! This recipe is gluten-free, vegan & sweetened with maple syrup. I’ve added the flaxseed for extra fibre and healthy fats
Ingredients:
-1 1/2 cup oats
-3 tbsp flaxseed meal or ground flaxseed
-1 tsp cinnamon
-1/4 cup melted coconut oil
-3 tbsp maple syrup
Mix all ingredients as listed. Bake at 300 degrees for 20 minutes. Stir the granola after 10 minutes to ensure it bakes evenly. It will turn golden brown and develop the chewy granola texture as it cools. Store at room temperature in an airtight jar or container.
